Everyday spaces become absurd when they serve as venues in which familiar and unfamiliar gestures simultaneously clash and become linked. Familiarity and strangeness lock together. The practical and the fantastic coexist. These polar notions and states are often linked through objects. We use these objects everyday in recreation (such as sports) and in labor. Objects also connect us to other individuals. The mundane links us to the unique; objects link us to one another psychically; repetitious action frees us mentally. As actions are repeated, the less the mind thinks about the action and instead wanders to places where the familiar takes new shape and reveals its other side.
